Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
This page covers consumer health data as defined by Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's SB 370 and similar state laws. It adds to the main privacy policy, which covers everything else StepScroll collects.
What health data StepScroll uses
- Your step count, read from Apple Health and from your iPhone's own step counter (Motion & Fitness), including about the last 30 days.
- Numbers worked out from it: the minutes of locked-app time your walking has earned, your balance, and your average steps.
How it is collected and used
StepScroll reads your step count only after you allow it in Apple's Health and Motion & Fitness permission prompts. It uses your steps and the numbers worked out from them only on your iPhone, to count the screen time your walking has earned and to set up your plan. You can turn that access off at any time in iOS Settings.
Who it is shared with
From version 1.5, your step count and the numbers worked out from it are never sent off your iPhone. We don't receive them, and they are never shared with anyone or sold.
Versions 1.4 and earlier send one of those numbers, your minutes balance, to Mixpanel (the usage analytics service that processes data only for us) with the event recorded each time you spend minutes in the app. Version 1.5 stops that. To have those records deleted, email us from Settings > Contact Support in the app, as described in the privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask to see or delete the health data we hold about you by emailing ryankrane@me.com. We answer within 30 days. If you signed in, you can also delete your account and plan backup in the app under Settings > Account > Delete account. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; if you're still unhappy, you can contact your state attorney general.
